  Session Content

Our days are packed full of things we feel are important for the children to experience.

We follow themes every ½ term and the activities provided are linked with these. We produce display boards linked to the theme and will make items for the children to bring home e.g. cookery product, growing plants and craft items.

FREE PLAY: This involves imaginative games for the children to express themselves in their own way. This can be achieved by playing in the home corner and dressing up clothes. Other activities are drawing, colouring, cutting and sticking, playdoh, sand, water and clay, puzzles and construction toys, computer and a book corner.

DISCIPLINES: Like ‘tidy up time’, ‘washing hands’, ‘please’ ‘and ‘thank you’ and circle time to sit and listen to others and take turns.

CONVERSATIONS: The children are encouraged to tell us about their home life and what they did at the weekend. This time is very positive and gives the children a chance to share experiences and learn from them.

SNACK TIME: Fruit, vegetables, dried fruit, breadsticks, and crackers, milk or water will be offered and the children sit together. This gives opportunities for us to talk about healthy eating and many learning opportunities arise such as Language and Communication, Personal and Social skills and Maths skills e.g. ½, ¼ and whole as well as numbers 1-20 in every day context.

STORIES AND NURSERY RHYMES: For children to listen to and join in with. On many occasions the children make up their own songs and teach us new ones from TV programmes.

PHYSICAL PLAY: May be outside in our garden using slides, tunnels, cars and bikes, balls, hoops, or inside (if wet) using a slide, barrel and trampoline.

Other activities we do are going for a walk around the village, library trip, farm trip, the list is endless but you will always be informed and usually have something brought home to put on display by a very proud child.

Every activity is carefully planned so that each child will be able to participate and enjoy.
